This past fall, the employees of The Outer Banks Hospital reached deep into their pockets to help those who were devastated by the flooding in the aftermath of Hurricane Irene. In November, they gave again, pledging almost $13,000 in support to the United Way, making the hospital the single largest contributor in Dare County to the Campaign.
“Misfortune can hit at any time,” said hospital President Ronnie Sloan. “We are blessed to live in a wonderful community that pulls together to help those in need. In these times of economic uncertainty, I’m proud of our employees’ generous spirit and their commitment to our Outer Banks community.”
Brenda Spivey, Administrative Assistant to the Vice Presidents at the hospital and United Way Co-Chair said, “I am proud to be part of a team of individuals who are invested in making a difference in our community by donating through the United Way to support local organizations and programs that might otherwise not be available.”
United Way agencies who provide assistance on the Outer Banks include the Albemarle Area Food Bank, the American Red Cross, Boy Scouts, Catholic Charities, Children’s Hospital of the Kings Daughters, Girl Scouts, Dare CASA and The Salvation Army.
