The Outer Banks Hospital wrapped up their annual U.S. Marines Toys For Tots Campaign by collecting a record number of 200 toys for Dare County children. U.S. Marine Robert Messinger was on hand on December 13th to deliver the toys to the North Pole so Santa could insure the children receive them by Christmas Eve. Messinger has been helping Santa since 1952 and this is his 4th year helping out locally on the Outer Banks. Over the past 64 years, The U. S. Marine Corps has distributed more than 400 million toys to more than 188 million children through their Toys For Tots Program.
The annual toy drive is sponsored by The Outer Banks Hospital’s Employee Experience team and headed by Pamela Fockler. This year’s collection far exceeded the team’s expectations and The Outer Banks Hospital staff is pleased at how many children will have a merrier Christmas this year because of their efforts.
