The Black Market Trust, as it performs at the second concert of the 35th extraordinary Outer Banks Forum for the Lively Arts Series, Sat., Oct. 21 at 7:30 p.m., according to Eddie Cooke, president of the Outer Banks Forum for the Lively Arts. The program will be held at the First Flight High School in Kill Devil Hills.

The Duck Jazz Festival opens with live music on the Green from the Mint Julep Jazz Band which brings their vintage sound to us from Durham North Carolina. Enjoy this concert on the green with a twist as in between sets you are invited to participate in a free East Coast Swing lesson led by Mint Julep Jazz Band’s own Laura Windley and Keenan McKenzie.
A graduate of Old Dominion University, Adele holds a B.S. in Art Education and has taken a number of advanced classes as well as workshops to continue honing her skills in painting. She left her teaching career with Virginia Beach Schools after 19 years to spend more time creating. This also allowed her to begin teaching art to adult students. Adele currently maintains a working studio and classroom in Crossroads Art Center.
An opening reception for the mask exhibit will be held at Dare County Arts Council on First Friday, October 6 from 6-8pm. Everyone is encouraged to visit this special exhibit to find the perfect mask for Black Opal. The event will celebrate the spirit of creativity and imagination. Tickets to Black Opal can be purchased online at DareArts.org/blackopal and at Dare County Arts Council in Manteo.
